Solution based journalism

Presentation at the University of Zurich
On 24 November 2015, the Right Livelihood Award and Ashoka launched the initiative for solution-oriented journalism as part of the Swiss Changemaker with renowned journalists such as Frank Senn (SRF) and Judith Wittwer (Tagesanzeiger).
Solution based journalism deals with solutions for social and ecological problems. It provides information about which approaches work, stimulates reflection and inspires independent action.
Solution based journalism discusses ways to a better future and rekindles confidence in journalism. Readers will owe it to their medium with more solidarity.
Against this background, committed journalists from various media houses and representatives of both organisations have come together with the aim of spreading this form of journalism in Switzerland. An important role will be played by a platform independent of both foundations and the media, where journalists can find innovative solution stories, learn about SER and best practice cases will be presented. The concept will also be incorporated into the curriculum of leading journalism schools, Ringier and MAZ.
